[Financial News] MDS Tech is developing a wearable AI computing terminal for next-generation AI glasses. The project focuses on securing edge AI terminal technology that connects AI glasses to the cloud.
MDS Tech said on the 21st that it will participate in a consortium for the 'Development of AI-Inglass Technologies for Personal AI Agents,' a project supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and led by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). The project aims to integrate AI glasses, a wearable AI computing terminal and a cloud-based AI service platform into a single system.
MDS Tech will develop a wearable computing terminal that processes data collected by AI glasses on site and connects to the cloud. It will design an electronic module combining NVIDIA-based AI computing capabilities with Qualcomm-based communications functions. The company will also verify the power, heat dissipation and battery architecture, communications performance and terminal stability.
The company will also develop the operating system, middleware and 5G communications functions. By optimizing AI models, it plans to establish a foundation for future applications in defense and industrial settings.
Industry observers expect edge terminal technology to become increasingly important for reliably implementing AI computing and communications under the limited power and heat conditions involved in commercializing AI glasses. Attention is also focused on whether this project will serve as an opportunity for MDS Tech to expand its existing embedded and AI platform capabilities into the wearable AI sector.
A MDS Tech official said, "Technology that reliably connects devices, edge AI, communications and the cloud is important." The official added, "Based on our accumulated experience in embedded systems and AI platforms, we will implement a wearable AI computing terminal."
