Tata Daewoo Mobility Supplies Unmanned Firefighting Vehicle to Vietnam, Expanding Special-Purpose Vehicle Exports

[Financial News] Tata Daewoo Mobility is expanding its push into the specialized firefighting vehicle market by supplying Vietnam with an unmanned demolition-and-water-spraying firefighting vehicle based on its heavy-duty Maxen truck. The company plans to expand its export lineup to include fire pump and ladder trucks while strengthening its local maintenance and parts supply chains. Its strategy is to broaden the foundation of its special-purpose vehicle business in Southeast Asia by combining vehicle sales with after-sales support.
Tata Daewoo Mobility said on the 21st that it recently supplied two unmanned demolition-and-water-spraying firefighting vehicles based on the Maxen Euro 6 6×4 to the Hanoi Fire and Rescue Police Department in Vietnam. Following its previous supply of specialized firefighting vehicles to Vietnam, the company plans to expand its local business through this latest delivery.
An unmanned demolition-and-water-spraying firefighting vehicle is remotely operated to approach a fire scene, remove exterior walls or other structures with demolition equipment mounted on the vehicle, and spray water directly onto the seat of the fire inside. It is designed to reduce firefighters' exposure to danger and shorten the time needed to suppress a fire in its early stages.
The Maxen, which serves as the base for these vehicles, is Tata Daewoo Mobility's flagship heavy-duty truck. Equipped with a power take-off (PTO) that transfers power to specialized equipment and a high-strength frame, it can operate water pumps, booms, and hydraulic equipment. The truck is used as a platform for various special-purpose vehicles, including firefighting vehicles, environmental vehicles, and construction equipment.
Jinwoo SMC participated in outfitting the vehicles. Since the two companies signed a strategic memorandum of understanding in October last year covering firefighting vehicles and aerial work platforms, they have expanded their cooperation to include supplying special-purpose vehicles for public-sector use, developing new vehicles, and jointly entering overseas markets.
Tata Daewoo Mobility plans to expand its business in Vietnam to include fire pump trucks, fire ladder trucks, and fire chemical trucks. The company aims to increase the number of models available to meet local demand through cooperation with specialized-vehicle partners.
Alongside vehicle supplies, the company is also working to expand maintenance services and parts-supply infrastructure in northern Vietnam. It plans to strengthen service hubs and parts distribution systems so local customers can operate the vehicles reliably. The company intends to establish a “3S business system” linking Sales, Service, and Spare Parts to support continued export growth.
A Tata Daewoo Mobility official said, "The export of the Maxen-based unmanned demolition-and-water-spraying firefighting vehicle is a meaningful achievement that demonstrates the capabilities of a specialized-vehicle platform proven in Korea and the competitiveness of K-fire trucks in overseas markets. We will continue working with various specialized-vehicle partners while building a business foundation encompassing sales, service, and parts supply, and expand our presence in the special-purpose vehicle markets of Southeast Asia, including Vietnam."
