CHA Biotech Subsidiary Matica Biotechnology to Provide Protein Material Process Development Services to U.S. Firm Bondwell Technologies

[Financial News] Matica Biotechnology, CHA Biotech's U.S. subsidiary, is partnering with U.S. biotech firm Bondwell Technologies to develop processes for producing next-generation protein materials.
Matica Biotechnology said on the 21st that it would provide Bondwell Technologies with process optimization services for producing next-generation protein materials.
Bondwell Technologies develops next-generation protein technologies for use in bioprocessing and the life sciences. The company aims to apply its protein biomaterials platform, which leverages the binding and self-assembly properties of proteins in their natural state, to pharmaceuticals, environmental applications, and energy.
Matica Biotechnology will use its process development (PD) capabilities in the cell and gene therapy (CGT) sector to optimize Bondwell's protein material production processes and support commercialization. Through this collaboration, the company plans to expand its process development expertise from CGT into recombinant proteins.
The partnership will also lead to expanded collaboration with biotech companies and research institutions in Texas. College Station, Texas, where Matica Biotechnology is based, is home to a cluster of biotech companies and research institutions centered around Texas A&M University.
Matica Biotechnology plans to establish a business model that improves process development and production efficiency by collaborating with biotech companies and research institutions from the early stages of development. The company expects demand to grow for securing process development and production efficiency before clinical development and commercialization as the CGT market expands.

CHA Biotech established Matica Biotechnology to enter the U.S. cell and gene therapy (CGT) contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) market. The company completed a CGT CDMO facility in College Station, Texas, in 2022 and is expanding its contract wins based on its proprietary cell line MatiMax and its analytical development (AD) and process development (PD) capabilities.
