C&R Research said on the 21st that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Gangnam Severance Hospital of Yonsei University College of Medicine earlier this month to support the global expansion of innovative Korean medical devices.
The agreement focuses on enhancing medical device validation capabilities by combining Gangnam Severance Hospital's medical and research infrastructure with C&R Research's expertise in conducting global clinical trials. Key areas of cooperation include innovative medical technologies such as imaging, measurement diagnostics and digital healthcare.
The two institutions will conduct validation research to secure clinical evidence for medical devices through domestic and international clinical trials and real-world-use evaluations. They will also cooperate on usability evaluations required for overseas regulatory approvals, including approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
They also plan to jointly operate specialized validation training programs and international forums. Through these efforts, they aim to help medical device companies acquire the expertise and practical capabilities needed for overseas certification.
Yoon Moon-tae, CEO of C&R Research, said, "We will strengthen our end-to-end clinical trial execution system and expand our role as a specialized partner leading the overseas expansion of innovative Korean medical technologies based on our experience with global regulatory approvals."
A Gangnam Severance Hospital official stated, "We will actively utilize the global expansion infrastructure secured through the Center for Validation Support for Global Innovative Medical Technologies and the project supporting the establishment of medical device usability infrastructure, along with our expertise in clinical settings and clinical research infrastructure. We will work together to verify the clinical value of innovative medical technologies and ensure their use in actual clinical settings."
