[Financial News] NH NongHyup Financial Group is working to prevent dementia among senior customers and strengthen the financial safety net to mark Dementia Overcoming Day.
According to financial industry sources on the 21st, NH Financial Group will conduct a customer-focused 'Safe Care Campaign' involving seven subsidiaries, including its banking, life insurance and general insurance units.
The campaign was organized as part of NH NongHyup Financial Group's ongoing 'Safe Care Project.' It focuses on communicating directly with senior customers and local communities by leveraging each subsidiary's business characteristics and online and offline channels.
NH NongHyup Financial Group previously established a 'Customer Service Manual for Elderly and Dementia-Affected Customers' for its seven subsidiaries. It also completed 'Dementia Overcoming Leading Company' certification for 92 pilot branches, the largest such initiative in the industry, laying the groundwork for related efforts.
Media and digital channels will also be used to raise public awareness of dementia. Starting today, NH NongHyup Life Insurance will air a public service announcement on the radio featuring guidelines for preventing dementia. NH NongHyup General Insurance will launch a social media campaign with a short-form video carrying the message, 'Dementia Prevention Is Not Someone Else's Problem.' NH Investment & Securities will use televisions in branch offices nationwide to extensively air voice phishing prevention content tailored to senior customers.
Sharing activities will continue in local communities around Dementia Overcoming Day. In partnership with dementia relief centers operated by local governments, the group will promote dementia prevention, early screening and awareness among customers visiting its branches. It will also support donations of related items, distribute gifts and hold events involving local residents.
NH NongHyup General Insurance will separately hold an 'Our Agricultural Products Sharing Event' for elderly people and other marginalized groups. NH-Amundi Asset Management held a ceremony on the 14th to unveil its Dementia Overcoming Leading Company certification plaque and reaffirmed its commitment to participating at the company-wide level.
All NH NongHyup Financial Group subsidiaries plan to provide intensive financial fraud prevention education for senior customers over three months, from this month through November, covering increasingly sophisticated schemes such as voice phishing.
Since March, Nonghyup Bank has provided free voice phishing compensation insurance to all citizens aged 60 and older, securing approximately 170,000 policyholders to date. Customers who do not hold a Nonghyup Bank account can also enroll. The insurance covers 70% of losses, up to 10 million won, for one year.
Lee Chan-woo, chairman of NH Financial Group, said, "This campaign, jointly planned by the seven subsidiaries to mark Dementia Overcoming Day, is a relay of practical actions designed to provide meaningful help as close to our customers as possible. We will continue delivering warm, inclusive finance that seniors and families affected by dementia can experience firsthand, drawing on Nonghyup's nationwide network rooted in local communities."
