Gossaum Nori, Folk Games, Singing Contests, Soccer Tournaments... Diverse Events Across Jeonnam-Gwangju During Chuseok Holiday

【Financial News Jeonnam-Gwangju = Hwang Tae-jong, Reporter】Diverse events, including Gossaum Nori, folk games, singing contests and soccer tournaments, will take place across Jeonnam-Gwangju during the Chuseok holiday.
 Shin Shin-ha, director of the Cultural Policy Division at Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Special City), said, "We have prepared a wide range of cultural events, from traditional cultural experiences to performances and exhibitions, so that residents and visitors returning to their hometowns can enjoy them with their families during Chuseok."
 According to Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Special City) on the 21st, traditional cultural experiences and performances will be offered at venues including Gwangju National Science Museum, Gwangju National Museum and Gwangju History & Folk Museum during the Chuseok holiday.
 First, the "Hangawi Special Event" will be held at Gwangju National Science Museum on the 24th, 26th and 27th. Visitors can experience various traditional folk activities, including jegichagi, tuho, yutnori and archery, as well as learn about traditional musical instruments, sangmo spinning and sogo drumming. Science and cultural performances, including the Hangawi Science Experiment Show and a cotton-candy balloon performance, will also take place on the 27th.
 The "2026 Hangawi Experience Program" will be held at Gwangju National Museum on the 26th and 27th. Visitors can enjoy various activities, including "Hip Pot Making," linked to a special exhibition; a social media event featuring a moon jar that grants wishes; and special-exhibition missions. Registration for "Hip Pot Making" is required through the website.
 Gwangju History & Folk Museum will also host "An Exciting Mask Dance Festival" on the 26th and 27th, featuring traditional mask dance performances and a folk-play area.
 At Gwangju Museum of Art, the Turin exchange exhibition "Adapted Landscapes, Chapter 2: From Turin to Gwangju" will run through November 15. In connection with the 16th Gwangju Biennale, the Casino Luxembourg Pavilion's "The Day of the Mantis" and the Mongolia Pavilion's "The Eternal and Distant: Collective Memory and Contemporary Challenges" will also be presented.
 Various cultural events offering a taste of the Chuseok season will also take place throughout the autonomous districts.
 In Buk District, the "2026 Healing Melodies in the City: Small Concert" will be held at 2 p.m. on the 22nd at Gakhwa Jugong Complex. A pre-event performance by Gakhwa Daycare Center will be followed by trot music, film soundtracks and popular songs performed by a saxophone ensemble.
 In Seo District, the "Hangawi Moonlight Concert" will take place at 7 p.m. on the 22nd at Naebang Children's Park, giving residents an opportunity to enjoy music close to home.
 In Nam District, the "Otdol Gossaum Nori Moon-Gazing Festival" will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. on the 24th at the Gossaum Nori Transmission Education Center. Along with a Gossaum Nori performance, participants can make songpyeon and grip-top phone holders. Traditional games such as tuho, jegichagi and yutnori, as well as a QR quiz, will also be available.
 In Gwangsan District, the "13th Samdo-dong Residents' Chuseok Singing Contest" will be held at 6 p.m. on the 24th at the Samdo Elementary School athletic field. From the 25th to the 27th, the "Gwangsan District Mayor's Cup National Migrant Workers' Soccer Tournament" will also take place at Woljeon Park and Yongdong Park, featuring league- and tournament-style soccer matches and an awards ceremony.
