[Financial News] LG HelloVision is working with college students to uncover lesser-known local flavors, places and people and promote them through video content. The initiative aims to give young people hands-on experience in content production while showcasing the appeal of local communities nationwide.
LG HelloVision announced on the 21st that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Seoul Media Center for Viewers, the Busan Media Center for Viewers, Dongguk University and Dongseo University to foster young video creators through the 'Local Editor Crew' program.
The signing ceremonies were held at the Busan Media Center for Viewers on the 8th and at Dongguk University on the 17th, respectively. Officials from LG HelloVision, the universities and the media centers attended.
Under the agreement, the institutions will collaborate on producing and distributing local content that reflects young people's perspectives. They also plan to link their human and material resources to build a sustainable industry-academia cooperation ecosystem, foster young talent and promote environmental, social and governance (ESG) values in local communities.
Following the agreement, launch ceremonies for the 'Local Editor Crew,' involving about 50 students from Dongguk University and Dongseo University, will be held in stages. The participants will work as 'Local Diggers' in Seoul and Busan, uncovering lesser-known local flavors, places, people and issues each month in teams and turning them into short-form videos and other video content.
The content will be featured on LG HelloVision's regional channels and the 'Local Digging' magazine on Instagram. Crews with outstanding performance will also receive scholarships.
LG HelloVision will link university curricula with projects to provide participating students with hands-on content production experience and mentoring from industry professionals. Its goal is to strengthen their professional skills in broadcasting and video while fostering young talent capable of planning and producing local content themselves.
Han Hyo-jung, a student in the Department of Broadcasting and Video at Dongseo University who was selected for the Local Editor Crew, said, "As a Busan resident, I am happy to directly showcase the city's hidden value that many people do not know about. I want to capture Busan's appeal in every corner through short-form content that draws on my major."
Lim Seong-won, managing director of LG HelloVision's PR and External Relations Center, said, "We support the efforts of the young Local Editor Crew members who will rebrand their communities and pursue their dreams alongside them. Based on a regional-industry-academia win-win cooperation model, we will build a sustainable local content ecosystem and take the lead in promoting ESG values in local communities."
