Na Kyung-won: "Lee Jae Myung administration's personnel disaster... Dismiss Kim Hyun-ji, the shadowy power broker, immediately"

[Financial News]   As ministerial nominees appointed by President Lee Jae Myung voluntarily withdrew one after another, People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyung-won urged him to "take responsibility and resolve the matter himself by apologizing to the public and completely dismissing the personnel and civil-affairs line, including Kim Hyun-ji, over the Lee Jae Myung administration's personnel system, which has collapsed miserably."
On the 20th, Na said on Facebook, "Kim Seung-won withdraws as the Ministry of Justice ministerial nominee. A farce just 20 days after President Lee's nomination," making the statement.
"Following Ministry of Gender Equality and Family ministerial nominee Yong Hye-in, two key State Council nominees have seen their nominations collapse in succession. Add Lee Jin-sook, Kang Sun-woo and Lee Hye-hoon, and this is already the fifth," Na said, criticizing the situation as "the complete collapse of the personnel system and a personnel disaster."
"The public is in despair over Cheong Wa Dae's arrogance in pushing people accused of drunk driving and sexual harassment, habitual verbal abuse, and those who do not even meet ordinary public standards," she said. "As I pointed out during the recent interpellation session, the criminal offenses on the records of ministers and Cheong Wa Dae aides in the Lee Jae Myung administration already total 34."
Na declared, "Cheong Wa Dae's moral numbness and personnel vetting system have been completely dysfunctional for a long time. The ultimate responsibility for this entire disaster lies solely with President Lee, the appointing authority. He must make a decision."
She continued, "First, President Lee should bow his head and apologize directly to the public, without making excuses, for the current personnel disaster. He should completely dismiss and replace the dysfunctional personnel and civil-affairs lines at Cheong Wa Dae."
Na also lashed out, saying, "Neutralizing the official personnel oversight system and allowing personal connections to control appointments is clearly an abuse of authority. The conduct of the personnel and civil-affairs officials who knew about this and tolerated it constitutes serious dereliction of duty."
Regarding Kim Hyun-ji, the first secretary of the Office of the President of the Republic of Korea, Na said, "People are even saying, 'Kim Hyun-ji is the personnel line' and 'I'll recommend them to Noona Hyun-ji.'" She demanded, "Immediately dismiss Kim Hyun-ji, the first secretary known as 'Everything Goes Through Hyun-ji' and identified as the shadowy power broker who effectively acts as Cheong Wa Dae's personnel committee chair." She added, "Dismiss all of Lee Tae-hyung, Secretary for Public Discipline; Jeon Chi-young, Civil Affairs Secretary; and Jo Seong-ju, Senior Presidential Secretary for Personnel Affairs, who caused turmoil in state affairs through inadequate vetting."
Na also said, "Some have suggested that the influence of Jeong Jin-sang, a former Democratic Party director of political affairs coordination and one of President Lee's closest aides, was reflected in the recommendation of Kim Seung-won as Ministry of Justice ministerial nominee." She added, "Kim Seung-won, whose constituency is in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, is known to be close to Jeong, who was a key figure during the president's time as Seongnam mayor and Gyeonggi Province governor."
Na stressed, "Kim Hyun-ji and Jeong Jin-sang. We must establish an internal control system that completely excludes from the informal personnel channel the president's associates from the Seongnam-Gyeonggi network who control personnel appointments at Cheong Wa Dae. President Lee must resolve the current situation himself, now that personnel appointments have become a disaster."
Meanwhile, Yong Hye-in, the nominee for minister of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, voluntarily withdrew from consideration on the 13th, 14 days after President Lee nominated her.
Kim Seung-won, the nominee for minister of the Ministry of Justice, withdrew from consideration on the 19th. His withdrawal came 20 days after President Lee announced the "August 30 cabinet reshuffle," which included a reorganization of six ministries. Following Yong, it became the second nominee to fall in the second cabinet reshuffle.
