[Financial News] South Korea's men's and women's table tennis teams both advanced to the quarterfinals of the team events at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The men's team is seeking to reclaim the title for the first time in 36 years, while the women's team is aiming to do so for the first time in 40 years.
South Korea's women's table tennis team defeated the Maldives 3-0 in the first Group C match and Kazakhstan 3-0 in the second at the Asian Games women's team event held at SKY HALL TOYOTA in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on the 20th.
At the previous Hangzhou Asian Games, the women's team failed to reach the final after losing to Japan and settled for the bronze medal.
Shin Yu-bin, the women's team's ace, got her campaign underway in the first match against Kazakhstan with a 3-0 victory (11-6, 11-2, 11-6).
That same day, the men's team defeated Yemen and Mongolia in succession in Group D. South Korea beat Yemen in 35 minutes in the opening match and Mongolia in 43 minutes in the second. The team did not drop a single set across the two matches.
After finishing first in their respective groups, both the men's and women's teams advanced directly to the quarterfinals.
