"The Gold Rush Is On!" South Korea's Men's Modern Pentathlon Team Wins Team Gold in Historic Triumph... Two Golds in One Day [Nagoya AG]

[Financial News]  South Korea's delegation finally struck gold in modern pentathlon, ending its gold-medal drought. Led by modern pentathlon star Jun Woong-tae of the Gangwon-do Sports Council, the men's team achieved a major feat by combining to win the delegation's second gold medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in the team event.
Featuring Jun Woong-tae, Seo Chang-wan of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Government and Lee Jong-hyun of the Daejeon Metropolitan City Government, the men's modern pentathlon team pulled away from rival countries to win the team event outright on the 20th at Anjo Sports Park in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
This was the second gold-medal victory to arrive, just hours after Seong Seung-min of Korea National Sport University won the South Korean delegation's first gold medal of the Games in the women's individual event at the same venue. Even amid the unsettled atmosphere surrounding the Games, the men's and women's teams both claimed the top spot on the podium, reminding the world that South Korea is Asia's strongest modern pentathlon nation.
Modern pentathlon requires one athlete to complete fencing, swimming, an obstacle event and the laser run (running and shooting) in succession. The team event is decided by adding the results of the top three individual finishers from each country's entries. South Korea combined for gold thanks to the three athletes' evenly matched, ironman-level performances.
