The Seoul Tourism Organization (STO) said on the 20th that it had invited representatives from Japanese startups, business associations and media outlets to Seoul MICE Plaza in Magok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, last week for a Seoul workation familiarization tour.
The tour was designed to explore the potential of corporate workations by allowing Japanese business representatives to work remotely, hold meetings and seminars, and experience Seoul's tourism offerings.
Participants worked in the Seoul MICE Plaza workspace and took part in seminars and networking events before visiting major Seoul attractions, including Seoul Botanic Park, a Korean cooking class, the Hongdae area and SEOULDAL in Yeouido.
The STO plans to continue identifying demand for extended-stay business tourism from overseas companies, including those in Japan, by leveraging Magok's accessibility—approximately 10 minutes from Gimpo International Airport—as well as its MICE, accommodation and cultural infrastructure.
Starting this year, it will also expand 'Seoul, After Business' and strengthen programs that combine work and tourism, including workations.
Kim Byung-min, president of the STO, said, "This event allowed Japanese business representatives to work and hold meetings in Seoul firsthand, giving them an opportunity to experience the corporate workation environment." He added, "We will actively identify demand among overseas companies for workations in Seoul by leveraging the city's excellent accessibility to Gimpo International Airport and its MICE infrastructure."
