[Financial News] Emart is offering discounts on convenience foods for ancestral rites ahead of Chuseok to ease the burden of preparing holiday dishes.
According to Emart on the 20th, the company is offering discounts of up to 20% on 55 types of PEACOCK convenience foods for ancestral rites through Chuseok Day on the 25th when customers pay with a promotional card. Eligible products include songpyeon, assorted jeon and tteokgalbi.
Large-pack promotional products will be offered at a 10% discount. Customers who spend at least 25,000 won on any PEACOCK products for ancestral rites will receive a 5,000-won Shinsegae Gift Certificate.
Kitchen Deli, Emart's ready-to-eat food section, is also holding a holiday discount event. Through the 23rd, customers who purchase assorted jeon and accumulate Shinsegae Point will receive a 30% discount. Namul dishes for preparing ancestral-rite tables will also be offered at reasonable prices.
Demand has recently grown for simpler ancestral-rite tables centered on only the dishes that are needed. During last year's Chuseok promotion, sales of PEACOCK jeon, tteokgalbi and neobiani at Emart rose 12% from the previous year.
As more customers are purchasing prepared dishes for ancestral rites, sales of namul dishes at Kitchen Deli during last year's Chuseok increased 14% year on year, while sales of fried foods and neobiani rose 29%.
An Emart representative said, "Ahead of Chuseok, we have prepared a variety of benefits, including discounts and gift certificates, so customers can prepare their holiday tables more easily and economically."
