[Financial News] LG Household & Health Care will jointly develop functional ingredients and health functional foods with the Korea Food Research Institute to help extend healthy life expectancy.
LG Household & Health Care said on the 20th that it and the Korea Food Research Institute signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 17th to cooperate on the commercialization of food-related research, including the development of new ingredients for health functional foods and analytical technologies.
The two sides plan to identify ingredients that could help extend healthy life expectancy and jointly develop scientifically supported health functional foods targeting the healthy aging market.
Specifically, they will jointly develop analytical methods for new functional ingredients and ingredients that may extend healthy life expectancy. They will also exchange technologies and information to commercialize products and enter domestic and overseas markets. By combining LG Household & Health Care's product development and global business capabilities with the institute's food analysis and research infrastructure, the companies aim to develop high-value-added health functional foods.
In addition to identifying new functional ingredients, the two sides will examine their efficacy, develop analytical methods and assess their potential for commercialization. They plan to form a working-level consultative body to identify joint research projects and expand detailed cooperation, including the verification of new ingredients and the analysis of foods in novel formulations.
An LG Household & Health Care official said, "This agreement marks the starting point for developing differentiated health functional foods that can contribute to customers' healthy lives based on scientific research capabilities." The official added, "We will work closely with the Korea Food Research Institute to turn research achievements into tangible products and customer experiences and lead the future health functional food market."
