[Financial News] Woori Bank will deliver daily necessities produced at vocational rehabilitation facilities for people with disabilities to elderly people living alone ahead of Chuseok. The win-win initiative supports both the expansion of jobs for people with disabilities and the prevention of social isolation among elderly people living in single-person households.
Woori Bank announced on the 20th that it would provide the "Woori Deundeunham" daily necessities kit to 9,722 households of elderly people living alone ahead of Chuseok.
The initiative is being carried out as part of Woori Financial Group's "Woori. Modoo. Woori" project to expand the job ecosystem for people with disabilities. It was designed to create more jobs for people with disabilities by sourcing the goods from vocational rehabilitation facilities, while proactively addressing the increase in single-person elderly households and the deepening of social isolation.
Woori Bank is carrying out the initiative in cooperation with the Korea Foundation for Supporting Vulnerable Elderly, an organization commissioned by the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) to operate the elderly customized care program. Through elderly care service providers nationwide, the bank will deliver daily necessities to 9,722 households annually, or about 810 households each month. Care workers will also visit the homes to check on the seniors' living conditions and well-being. Woori Bank expects these monthly visits to serve as a link between the elderly and their communities.
As its first support effort this year, Woori Bank will deliver "Deundeunham" to 810 elderly people nationwide who will spend Chuseok alone. The package contains seven types of items, including an emergency first-aid kit, a non-slip mat, a cane, arm sleeves and a blanket. All of the items were produced at vocational rehabilitation facilities for people with disabilities. A leaflet titled "Ten Rules for Preventing Voice Phishing" is also included to help seniors easily learn how to respond to financial scams.
Woori Bank will continue to practice warm banking alongside neighbors in need, guided by the values of "Woori. Modoo. Woori."
