[Exclusive] Apple iPhone 18 Pro 'goes dead' one day after launch... 'Panic Full' incidents follow

[Financial News] Users are increasingly reporting that Apple's new iPhone 18 Pro series is suddenly shutting down and restarting—a phenomenon known as 'Panic Full.'
According to industry sources on the 20th, posts claiming that users experienced Panic Full on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have been appearing one after another, particularly in ASAMO (iPhone & iPad & Mac Users' Community), an iPhone user community with about 2.41 million members.
One user claimed that the problem could be reproduced by entering a banking application requiring Face ID authentication or the Photos app's Recently Deleted album and repeatedly failing Face ID recognition. According to the user, covering the Face ID sensor with a hand while attempting authentication, then repeatedly uncovering and covering it again, causes a “Try Again” message to appear before the device reboots.
The user said the same issue recurred after repeated tests. Other posts continued to appear on ASAMO, including "Can the iPhone 18 Pro Panic Full issue be fixed?", "I'm going to an Apple service center because of the 18 Pro Max Panic Full symptoms," and "Panic Full occurred while I was watching YouTube."
The term Panic Full refers to an iPhone freezing, automatically shutting down, and unexpectedly turning back on. Users can check whether a log beginning with 'panic-full' has been saved under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Analytics Data. The same type of record was also confirmed to have been saved in the Analytics Data section when Panic Full occurred on the iPhone 16.
The same symptoms were also confirmed on a tech YouTuber's device. ZUYONI, a YouTube channel with 830,000 subscribers, said Panic Full occurred after checking the iPhone 18 Pro used by the channel following reports from iPhone 18 Pro users.
In a post, ZUYONI said, "I haven't experienced it during everyday use yet, but the iPhone reboots in certain situations," adding, "Panic Full occurs and the phone powers off when Face ID fails while checking the album trash or in a banking app, and then fails again when you try immediately afterward."
Similar cases have also been reported overseas. A Reddit user wrote that an iPhone 18 Pro Max restarted three times while using Face ID and once while launching Apple Wallet, less than a day after the device was purchased. Other iPhone 18 Pro users also claimed that repeated panic logs appeared during Face ID authentication.
This is not the first time a new iPhone has faced controversy over Panic Full. Early after the launch of the iPhone 16 series in 2024, cases of devices automatically shutting down or restarting occurred one after another, particularly involving the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple later reportedly fixed an issue involving unexpected restarts on some iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models through the iOS 18.1 update.
Apple Korea is currently assessing the situation.
