Jeju Tourism Jobs Linked Directly to University... Dream Tower Donates KRW 100 Million to Jeju National University

[Financial News | Jeju] Reporter Jeong Yong-bok — Jeju National University and Jeju Dream Tower Integrated Resort are establishing a cooperation system that connects university education with hands-on experience at a major tourism facility and links local talent to employment opportunities. The partnership will incorporate job experience required in the tourism industry into student education and jointly operate recruitment information and employment support programs.
According to JNU on the 20th, JNU and Jeju Dream Tower Integrated Resort signed a business agreement on the 18th in the JNU president's reception room to promote industry-academic cooperation and foster local talent.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly plan and operate industry-academic cooperation and talent development initiatives. They will also pursue field-based educational programs, including site visits for students, special lectures by industry professionals and mentoring.
Connecting students with employment opportunities is another key aspect of the agreement. Jeju Dream Tower Integrated Resort will provide JNU students with recruitment information, while the university's employment support programs will be linked to the company's workforce needs.
The initiative aims to narrow the gap between the major-related knowledge students acquire at university and the job skills required in the tourism and hotel industries. It will also expand pathways for young people in the region to find employment in Jeju Province.
Jeju Dream Tower Integrated Resort is a leading integrated resort in Jeju Province operated by Lotte Tour Development. It houses a hotel, a foreigner-only casino, food and beverage outlets and shopping facilities, generating demand for a wide range of positions in hotel services, tourism, food and beverage operations and marketing.

The business is also expanding. Jeju Dream Tower Integrated Resort's casino and hotel revenue totaled KRW 192.6 billion in the second quarter of this year, marking the highest quarterly figure on record.
Grand Hyatt Jeju posted revenue of KRW 45.478 billion during the same period, up 10.7% from a year earlier. The hotel sold 128,600 room nights, and its average occupancy rate was 88.3%. Foreign guests accounted for 77.3% of all rooms sold.
The agreement is significant because a large integrated resort with a high proportion of foreign tourists is joining forces with a regional flagship national university to develop talent. The arrangement allows the company to secure the workers it needs locally, while the university provides students with education and employment opportunities connected to the actual industry.
The institutions will also promote exchanges in education and research. They plan to jointly develop programs that reflect demand in the tourism industry and expand cooperation in education, research and public relations.
Along with signing the agreement, Jeju Dream Tower Integrated Resort donated a KRW 100 million development fund to JNU. JNU plans to use the funds to improve the student educational environment and strengthen its research capabilities.
Yang Deok-sun, president of Jeju National University, said, "The agreement is highly meaningful because it represents cooperation between the university and the company for the development of the local community." He added, "We will use the development fund to improve the student educational environment and strengthen research capabilities, while laying the foundation for the region and the university to grow together."
