Bang Chan of Stray Kids (SKZ) Donates 100 Million Won to Children Affected by Flooding in Nepal

[Financial News] Bang Chan of SKZ donated 100 million won to help children affected by flooding in Nepal recover their daily lives.
UNICEF Korea said on the 20th that the entire donation will be used for emergency relief for affected children and families through the UNICEF Nepal Office. It will support drinking water and sanitation, health and nutrition, psychosocial assistance, and temporary learning spaces.
Bang Chan said, "I wanted to offer even a small measure of comfort to those going through exhausting and difficult times," adding, "I sincerely hope that everyone will be able to regain peaceful daily lives as soon as possible."
Bang Chan joined the UNICEF Honors Club on his birthday last year. The club is a group of donors who have contributed at least 100 million won, and he has continued supporting children around the world since joining.
Sudden flooding struck Nepal on August 26, affecting approximately 84,000 people in 17 local governments across six regions. Among them were approximately 32,000 children and 1,800 people with disabilities. Fifty water-supply facilities and 20 schools were also destroyed.
That means children accounted for about four out of every 10 affected residents. With both water-supply facilities and schools damaged, securing drinking water and restoring learning environments are closely interconnected challenges.
UNICEF is working with the Nepalese government to restore water-supply facilities and is providing drinking water and sanitation supplies, therapeutic food for malnutrition, and learning kits for students and teachers. Psychosocial support for children and families through professional counselors is also underway.
Heo Geum-joo, secretary general of UNICEF Korea, said, "We will do our utmost to ensure that this valuable donation is swiftly delivered to children affected by the disaster in Nepal so they can regain safe daily lives."
