[Financial News] Daegu Shinsegae is seeking to strengthen its competitiveness by expanding its overseas designer brands and living content as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.
According to industry sources on the 20th, Shinsegae Department Store will unveil a new overseas designer specialty section spanning approximately 4,959 square meters on the fourth floor of Daegu Shinsegae. The section brings together a total of 34 brands.
Daegu Shinsegae, which opened in 2016, is carrying out a large-scale renovation across the store to mark its 10th anniversary this year. Following the renovation of its sports and casual stores in February, it completely revamped its women's fashion specialty section in June.
Sales and customer numbers also increased after the renovations. Following the renovation of the women's fashion specialty section in June, sales in the women's fashion and contemporary categories rose 77.1% year over year in July and August. The number of purchasing customers also increased by 75% during the same period.
Building on these results, Daegu Shinsegae expanded the renovation to its overseas designer specialty section. Major international fashion brands that had previously been spread across several floors were consolidated on the fourth floor, while numerous new brands were added to strengthen the section's specialization.
In particular, the store expanded its lineup of brands making their debut in the Daegu commercial district. Maison Margiela, Sacai, Jacquemus and Time Paris opened on the 18th, while Acne Studios and LEMAIRE are scheduled to open sequentially in October.
Stores operated by existing brands have also been revamped. Major brands, including Max Mara, Pleats Please Issey Miyake, Issey Miyake and Herno, are welcoming customers at their renovated stores.
Daegu Shinsegae is also strengthening its competitiveness in the living segment alongside fashion. A new IKEA store spanning approximately 992 square meters has opened on the eighth floor of Daegu Shinsegae. It is the first IKEA store in the Daegu area and the largest among IKEA's urban-format stores.
A Shinsegae Department Store official said, "The overseas designer specialty section is characterized by a significant expansion of popular international brands to meet the heightened fashion demand of customers in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do. We will continue to introduce new content, including IKEA, and expand the differentiated shopping experience unique to Daegu Shinsegae."
