[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung said on the 19th, Youth Day, "I am currently considering whether we should create a separate organization dedicated to overseeing youth policy."
Speaking at the Youth Day ceremony held that day at the Yeongbingwan State Guest House at Cheong Wa Dae, President Lee said, "It would be difficult to overcome this emergency situation with the capabilities of existing policymakers."
President Lee said, "As far as I know, today's young people in the Republic of Korea are the most capable generation and also the hardest-working generation. Yet, most unfairly, the outcomes have been turned upside down."
President Lee continued, "They are the generation that has studied the longest, yet they wait the longest to find jobs. They are the generation that has prepared the best, yet they have the least," and added, "They are the generation that competed the most fiercely, yet they face the most uncertain future. They say it has become a world where even living an ordinary life is difficult unless you are exceptional."
President Lee said, "This is by no means an individual's fault," and assessed, "The polarization that has continued and expanded and, more recently, the sudden restructuring of industry caused by AI are reducing opportunities for new generations."
President Lee also said, "The youth issue is not simply a problem affecting a particular group; it is a fundamental question of whether the Republic of Korea can remain a country that continues to grow and develop," and mentioned that he is considering establishing a dedicated organization.
