[Nagoya AG] Lee Jun-seok Reaches Teqball Men's Singles Final, Securing South Korea's First Medal

[Financial News] Lee Jun-seok, 27, reached the men's singles final in Teqball at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, securing South Korea's first medal in the event.
Lee Jun-seok defeated Zaid Aidan of Kuwait in the men's singles semifinal at Nagoya's Higashi Sports Center in Japan on the 19th. After taking the first set 12-10, Lee led 3-2 in the second when Aidan retired because of pain in his left thigh, confirming Lee's place in the final.
Lee got off to an uneasy start. He fell behind after conceding four consecutive points in the first set, but used short serves and steady defense to level the score at 4-4. He then pulled ahead 10-6 before allowing Aidan to tie the score at 10-10, but won the set by forcing a series of late errors from his opponent.
An unexpected situation arose in the second set. With Lee leading 3-2, Aidan clutched his thigh and collapsed on the court. Despite receiving emergency treatment from the Kuwait team, he was unable to continue, giving Lee the victory.
Lee's opponent in the final will be Ali Jalil Mezher Al-Alyawi of Iraq. On the 20th, Lee will bid for the first Asian Games gold medal in the history of Korean Teqball.
Teqball is a sport in which players exchange a soccer ball over a curved table. The first player to score 12 points wins a set, and the ball must be sent to the opponent within no more than three touches. Another distinctive feature is that the same body part cannot be used consecutively.
South Korea entered the men's singles, men's doubles and mixed doubles events in Teqball at these Games. Lee Jun-seok was the only Korean player to advance from the group stage and secure a medal.
