Despite Kim Seung-won's withdrawal, "Han Dong-hoon, I will expose the classified-information leak to the very end"

[Financial News] Kim Seung-won, nominee for Minister of Justice, voluntarily resigned on the 19th, just 20 days after his nomination, following various allegations and controversies, including "new-drug lobbying" and a "family cooperative." During the second cabinet reshuffle of the Lee Jae-myung administration, two nominees, including Kim and former nominee Yong Hye-in for Minister of Gender Equality and Family, withdrew from consideration. The administration's personnel-vetting system is therefore expected to come under scrutiny.
Kim held a press conference at the National Assembly's press briefing room that day and announced his resignation. "I have decided to step down as the nominee for Minister of Justice," he said. "I thank President Lee Jae Myung for nominating me, and I am truly sorry that I failed to live up to expectations."
"I made up my mind after watching President Lee's press conference yesterday (the 18th)," he continued. "I believed that the government, which must care for people's livelihoods and complete its reforms, should not be burdened any further, even slightly."
"I take seriously the fact that I failed to meet the standards expected by the public, and I will deeply reflect on my shortcomings," he said. "In particular, I offer my deepest consolation to people with disabilities and their families who may have been hurt by this incident, to those who have devoted themselves to work in the care sector, and to everyone who has crossed paths with me."
Kim responded sharply to independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon and others who had launched an offensive against him during the confirmation hearing.
"Even if I give up the position, I will not give up on the truth. I will definitely complete the unfinished prosecution reform," he declared. "I will uncover to the very end the full truth behind the targeted investigations by the political prosecutors under Yoon Suk Yeol and Han Dong-hoon, Han Dong-hoon's leakage of investigative secrets, and the selective editing scandal."
Kim added, "This incident is precisely an example that demonstrated to the public the need for prosecution reform. I will work to ensure that the wounds suffered by people with developmental disabilities, their families, and dedicated care workers as a result of reckless allegations are fully healed."  Kim's voluntary resignation that day meant that two of the six people included in the second cabinet reshuffle of the Lee Jae-myung administration had withdrawn. Former nominee Yong, who was also part of the second reshuffle, voluntarily resigned after failing to overcome various controversies, including a history of activities in an "underground organization" and allegations that the Basic Income Party operated as a "family party." As a result, criticism has continued to mount that the administration's personnel-vetting system is inadequate. At a press conference on the 18th, President Lee said, "In exercising all state power, including personnel administration, I will respect as much as possible the will of the people, who are sovereign," adding, "I will also reexamine the personnel system on this occasion."
