[Financial News] SOYEON of the group i-dle, who recently topped the music charts with her solo title track 'I'm Gonna Toesa,' personally addressed rumors that she earns 1 billion won in monthly copyright royalties.
SOYEON appeared on KBS2's 'The Seasons - Sung Si-kyung's Eardrum Boyfriend' on the 18th. Sung Si-kyung introduced SOYEON, who was returning with a solo album after five years and two months, and surprised viewers by saying, "Her maximum monthly copyright royalties are as much as 1 billion won."
Sung Si-kyung also joked about SOYEON's new song 'I'm Gonna Toesa,' which has recently attracted attention, asking, "Isn't that possible because she receives 1 billion won in copyright royalties every month?"
SOYEON immediately clarified the matter, saying, "It's a misunderstanding." She explained that the story had become an issue after being sensationally edited into short-form videos and that it was not true that her actual copyright royalties amounted to 1 billion won a month.
She added, "I think I would be very happy if I lived that kind of life, but that's absolutely not the case for me," emphasizing the point again and drawing laughter. Sung Si-kyung responded, "Still, your copyright royalties must be substantial." SOYEON has fully participated in writing lyrics, composing music and producing the group's major albums released since her debut. She is also credited as the lyricist and composer of all eight tracks on her latest album.
