Trump: "CNN, MS NOW and Politico barred from covering me ... 'Fake news'"

U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 18th local time that access to the White House for CNN, MS NOW and Politico would be restricted. In other words, he decided to bar the three media outlets from covering him.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said the outlets were spreading "fake news," adding, "They should be prevented from continuing to write or report 'fiction' and 'falsehoods.'" He did not specify which reports he considered fake news.
Trump added, "Other fake news media will follow" if the outlets were allowed to continue operating.
CNBC reported that Trump’s move to block some outlets from covering him could raise legal questions over whether it violates the First Amendment, which protects freedom of the press.
Nevertheless, the hardline move appears to be an attempt to rally his base as the Republican Party struggles amid deteriorating public sentiment ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
The Republican Party is currently facing multiple setbacks. 
It has become almost an established pattern that the party in power loses the midterm elections after winning a presidential election, making the electoral landscape difficult. Public sentiment is also turning against the party as the Iran war launched by Trump on February 28 drove up fuel and essential-goods prices sharply.
Trump’s decision to target CNN and the other outlets is interpreted as an attempt to consolidate his core supporters by blaming their "fake news" for public sentiment unfavorable to him.
