"I secretly eavesdropped on Cha Eun-woo's conversation"—Woman in her 50s caught by police after planting listening device under cafe table

[Financial News] A woman in her 50s who allegedly installed an eavesdropping device at a cafe to listen in on the private conversations of famous singer and actor Cha Eun-woo, 29, whose real name is Lee Dong-min, is under police investigation.
According to police and other sources on the 18th, Yongsan Police Station in Seoul has booked and is questioning a woman in her 50s, identified as A, on suspicion of violating the Protection of Communications Secrets Act.
A is suspected of attaching an eavesdropping device under a cafe table in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on two occasions—the 23rd and 29th of last month—to secretly listen to conversations between Cha Eun-woo and an acquaintance. A, who claimed to be Cha's fan, was caught by police on the 30th of last month while attempting to retrieve the device she had installed after officers responded to a report.
Police initially placed A under emergency arrest, but prosecutors did not recognize grounds for the emergency arrest. She has since been released and is being investigated without detention.
Police are conducting a digital forensic examination of A's cellphone to determine whether accomplices were involved in the crime. They are also closely investigating how she obtained the eavesdropping device. Once the inquiry into the exact circumstances of the case is complete, police plan to consider whether to seek an arrest warrant for A.
