[Financial News] A motorcycle ridden by a man in his 20s crashed into a curb at an intersection in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi Province, on the evening of the 18th and caught fire. The driver ultimately died.
According to police and fire authorities, at around 8:20 p.m. that day, a motorcycle ridden by a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, collided with the curb of a traffic island on the right side of the road at Gosaek Intersection in Gwonseon District, Suwon-si.
The motorcycle caught fire immediately after the crash. Firefighters dispatched to the scene extinguished the blaze in about 10 minutes. Mr. A, who was wearing a helmet at the time, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital while receiving CPR in cardiac arrest. He ultimately died at around 8:56 p.m.
A police investigation found that Mr. A had been traveling normally at an appropriate speed while the traffic light was green. Police are treating the incident as a single-vehicle accident, with no collision involving another vehicle or violation of traffic laws.
A police official said, "At this point, we suspect that the accident was caused by driver negligence," adding that investigators are examining nearby CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
