[Financial News] Financial Supervisory Service Governor Lee Chan-jin visited a traditional market with financial company executives ahead of Chuseok. Alongside The Salvation Army, Lee carried out a sharing activity for vulnerable groups.
On Sept. 18, Lee visited Bangsin Traditional Market in Seoul's Gangseo District with executives from The Salvation Army, Industrial Bank of Korea, KIWOOM Securities, KB Insurance and Shinhan Card.
The event was attended by Rep. Jin Sung-joon, chair of the National Assembly's National Defense Committee; Jang Min-young, president of Industrial Bank of Korea; Eom Ju-sung, CEO of KIWOOM Securities; Gu Bon-wook, CEO of KB Insurance; and Kim Young-il, vice president of Shinhan Card. The Financial Supervisory Service and the financial companies used 130 million won in joint donations to purchase essential goods, including rice cakes, fruit and vegetables, as well as Onnuri Gift Certificates, and delivered them to vulnerable members of the local community and social welfare organizations.
Lee personally purchased essential goods at Bangsin Traditional Market. The group also listened to the concerns of market merchants.
Lee said, "I hope today's sharing activity will help both market merchants and neighbors facing hardship enjoy a generous and warm Chuseok." He added, "We will continue to create opportunities with the financial sector to bring warmth to traditional markets."
