Samsung Electronics Begins AI Training to Develop 2,000 Local Talent in Karnataka, India

[NEW DELHI, India—Pragya Awasati, correspondent] Samsung Electronics' Indian subsidiary is launching an artificial intelligence (AI) training program for 2,000 young people in Karnataka, India.
Samsung Electronics said on the 17th that it had launched Samsung Innovation Campus 2026 in cooperation with Nrupatunga University, a local higher education institution. Basavaraj Raya Reddy, Karnataka's minister for higher education, and officials from Nrupatunga University attended the launch ceremony. The initiative focuses on providing local young people with practical AI training, in line with Karnataka's policy drive to build an AI industry ecosystem.
Samsung Innovation Campus is a global education program for young people aged 18 to 25. It provides theoretical instruction, hands-on training, and mentoring in AI and generative AI. Its primary goal is to help participants acquire skills they can apply in real-world industrial settings and adapt to changes in the digital industry.
According to Samsung Electronics, more than 3,000 participants in Karnataka have completed the program to date. This year's Samsung Innovation Campus 2026 is scheduled to operate across 10 Indian states, serving a total of 20,000 young people. Samsung Innovation Campus 2026 is being operated by Samsung Electronics together with the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), organizations that train workers for India's electronics and telecommunications industries. The curriculum centers on AI and generative AI and combines step-by-step learning with practical training and mentoring.
More than 20,000 people across India participated in Samsung Innovation Campus 2025, held last year. Women accounted for 48% of the participants. Samsung Electronics plans to expand the scope of advanced technology training, including AI, through this year's program.
Shubham Mukherjee, head of corporate communications and corporate social responsibility for Samsung Electronics' Southwest Asia operations, said, "As the AI-driven economy expands, it is important to develop a workforce with the relevant capabilities." He added that Samsung Innovation Campus would broaden access to training in emerging technologies.
Minister Basavaraj Raya Reddy also underscored the need to secure skilled professionals in the AI sector. He stated that Karnataka must develop skilled young talent to maintain its technological and innovation competitiveness as AI transforms industrial structures and creates new opportunities.
Samsung Electronics operates Samsung Innovation Campus as a program through which educational institutions, including universities, and industry collaborate to provide practical, field-oriented technology training. Its partnership with Nrupatunga University in Karnataka is part of this industry-academia cooperation. In India, Samsung Electronics also operates programs such as Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, which supports young people's efforts to develop innovative ideas, and Samsung DOST, which builds practical skills in sales and technology.
Samsung Innovation Campus is part of Samsung Electronics' corporate social responsibility initiatives focused on "smart education" and "youth empowerment." As Samsung Electronics marks its 30th anniversary in India, it plans to continue programs aimed at enhancing local young people's education and technological skills.
