County-Run Ulju Hospital Emergency Room to Operate 24/7 Year-Round from October

【Financial News Ulsan = Choi Su-sang】 The emergency room at Ulju County Hospital will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year starting in October.
According to Ulju County in Ulsan on the 18th, a total of five medical specialists will be assigned to the emergency room at Ulju County Hospital, located at 233 Deoknam-ro, Onyang-eup, Ulju County. The team will include Deputy Director Song Pil-oh, a specialist in anesthesiology and pain medicine who also handles daytime outpatient care; one doctor dedicated to nighttime shifts; and three specialists in otolaryngology, obstetrics and gynecology, and family medicine.
The nursing staff will consist of eight people—a head nurse, a charge nurse and six nurses—working in three shifts around the clock. In addition, three security personnel will remain on site 24 hours a day, while two administrative staff members will work at night to oversee patient safety and provide administrative support in the emergency room.
The emergency room at Ulju County Hospital will provide a one-stop process covering initial evaluations and severity classification using the Korean Triage and Acuity Scale (KTAS), emergency treatment, specialist consultations, care for vulnerable patients such as children and older adults, and decisions on admissions and transfers.

To improve diagnostic accuracy, the radiology department, equipped for MRI, CT and X-ray examinations, and the clinical laboratory will operate a 24-hour testing support system for blood tests, arterial blood gas analysis and urinalysis.
The hospital will also share a real-time transport and transfer coordination system with the 119 Emergency Medical Services Team and local and regional emergency medical centers. In particular, it has installed a negative-pressure isolation room with one bed and established a dedicated transfer route for use during infectious disease outbreaks, strengthening its ability to respond to local disasters.
Ulju County expects to provide stable medical services, including securing the critical treatment window when emergency patients arise in the southern areas of Onsan-eup, Onyang-eup and Seosaeng-myeon. If the number of annual emergency-room visits exceeds 10,000, the county plans to expand the emergency room to at least 10 beds and gradually increase its facilities and staffing.
