The Korean Red Cross said on the 18th that the association delivered the relief donations on the 16th. The funds will be used to help affected residents stabilize their livelihoods and return to their daily lives.
Volunteer fire brigades are organizations that assist with firefighting, rescue and emergency medical services, and other fire-related duties. This fundraising effort demonstrates how the members' disaster-response activities can extend to supporting the livelihoods of affected residents.
Kim Mi-gyeong said, "I hope these donations will provide even a little support to residents of Geoje and Tongyeong who are struggling after the sudden flooding." She added that she would continue sharing with those in need alongside members of the volunteer fire brigades.
Park Jong-sul expressed his gratitude to the association and its members for raising the funds, saying, "The Korean Red Cross will do its utmost in disaster relief efforts to ensure that these valuable donations are used meaningfully to help flood victims quickly return to their daily lives."
When disasters occur, the Korean Red Cross provides relief supplies and meals to displaced residents and offers support such as psychological counseling.
