Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety Unveils Offshore Bridge Maintenance Technologies at International Conference

[Financial News] The Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety introduced instrumentation data analysis and cable inspection robot technologies for managing the safety of long-span bridges over water to international experts. It also shared a case in which robots were deployed in areas that are difficult for people to access, complementing conventional, personnel-based inspections.
On the 18th, the Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety said it had participated in the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) international conference, held at Songdo Convensia in Incheon from the 16th through the 18th.
The IABSE conference is an event where bridge and structural engineering experts from around the world share technologies and research findings on the design, construction, and maintenance of structures.
The Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety jointly operated a special session and promotional booth with the Iksan Regional Office of Land Management. It explained bridge condition monitoring based on instrumentation data, as well as inspection and analysis systems involving specialized personnel. The authority also presented visual inspection methods using cable inspection robots and examples of their application in the field.
During the event, the authority exchanged views with overseas bridge management agencies on maintenance systems for special bridges and advanced inspection technologies. Based on these discussions, the Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety plans to explore opportunities for follow-up technical cooperation.
Park Chang-geun, president of the Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety, said, "We will continue to actively use advanced technologies such as robots, artificial intelligence, and instrumentation data to enhance special bridge maintenance technologies and expand international technical exchanges as well."
