Gangwon State and Gangwon Technopark Pursue Global AI Healthcare Cooperation in Estonia

[Financial News, Chuncheon = Kim Ki-seop] A green light has emerged for Gangwon's AI healthcare companies seeking to enter the European market. Gangwon State and Gangwon Technopark have joined forces with an Estonian national institution to establish a local technology validation cooperation system.
According to Gangwon Technopark on the 18th, Gangwon State and the Technopark visited Tallinn and Tartu, Estonia, for four days from the 15th to the 18th. They carried out cooperation activities aimed at validating Gangwon's AI healthcare industry in Europe and expanding it globally.
During the visit, the Korea-Estonia Seminar on Digital Healthcare Validation and Global Expansion was held at the Nordic Hotel Forum in Tallinn on the 16th, with officials from major institutions and companies in both countries in attendance. At the event, Gangwon Technopark signed a memorandum of understanding with Metrosert, Estonia's national applied research center, on global digital healthcare validation. The agreement laid the foundation for AI healthcare companies in Gangwon to validate their technologies in the European market and pursue international joint research.
At the panel discussion that followed, Gangwon's healthcare environment for addressing population aging was shared. Presentations in the second session focused on the healthcare data environments of the two countries and ways to use them.
The delegation also worked to expand its validation network to the three Baltic states, including Lithuania, building on its existing validation hub in Estonia. At a meeting attended by officials from Vasaros Hospital in Lithuania and others, the delegation shared validation results from Tartu University Hospital and discussed establishing new hubs and expanding cooperation across the three Baltic states.
In addition, through working-level discussions with the Health and Welfare Information Systems Centre (TEHIK), Accelerator Estonia, the national agency dedicated to regulatory sandboxes, and Tartu Science Park, the two sides shared know-how on using healthcare data and explored specific areas of cooperation.
Yoon Wan-tae, head of Gangwon Technopark's Future Business Division, said, "This visit, which will take the Tartu hub to the next level and expand the validation area to Lithuania, will be an important turning point for future cooperation. We will work to build a global network so that Gangwon's AI healthcare solutions can establish clear competitiveness on the European stage."
