[Financial News] Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) said on the 18th that it recently obtained ISO 30301 international standard certification for its Records Management System from Korea Management Registrar (KMR).
ISO 30301 is an international standard established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to systematically manage records produced and received in an organization's work processes and ensure the continuous operation and improvement of its Records Management System. BMC explained that it pursued the certification to establish an advanced records management system aligned with international standards and enhance administrative transparency and reliability.
The certification is particularly significant because BMC is the first public institution under Busan to obtain it. It also represents external recognition of the corporation's records management capabilities.
BMC reportedly received compliant ratings in every category, with no nonconformities identified during the assessment. It earned high marks for proactively establishing a foundation for securing high-quality, reliable digital data, including management based on radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology and the digitization of important records through its Records Management System (RMS).
BMC plans to go beyond obtaining the certification by actively incorporating the assessment recommendations into its 2027 Records Management Work Plan. It also intends to share and embed the relevant guidelines throughout the organization through its internal knowledge community, thereby firmly establishing an advanced records management system.
BMC President Shin Chang-ho said, "Obtaining ISO 30301 certification is highly significant because it means we are the first public institution under Busan to establish a records management system that meets international standards. As we enter the era of a full-scale artificial intelligence transformation, the corporation's records data, managed safely and systematically, will become a key driver of future digital innovation. We will continue doing our utmost to strengthen administrative transparency and responsible management and become a public corporation that citizens can trust even more."
