Han Geun-su, the newly appointed president of Daegu Transportation Corporation, officially began his duties with a safety inspection of the first metro train, without holding a separate inauguration ceremony.
On the 18th, his first day in office, Han visited the Line 3 train depot before the first train departed to inspect preparations for service and safety management. He then boarded the first train himself to check its operations and examined key station facilities, including the platforms.
Before passengers arrived, he also listened to the working conditions and concerns of frontline employees preparing the first train service. He encouraged them and paid close attention to their views on ensuring safe metro operations.
Han told the employees preparing for the first train service, "A day on the metro begins long before citizens board the first train." He emphasized, "The efforts of frontline employees who protect citizens' safety out of sight are the force that builds trust in Daegu Metro."
He added, "The moment the first train departs safely is when citizens' daily lives begin," and said, "I will make safety the top priority in every management decision and build a metro system that does not overlook even the smallest potential risk."
By visiting the first train and the station facilities used by citizens instead of holding an inauguration ceremony, Han demonstrated his commitment to directly overseeing public safety—the top priority in metro operations—and strengthening field-oriented safety management.
He also said, "I will actively communicate with employees with the attitude that both problems and answers lie in the field," adding, "The corporation will concentrate all of its capabilities on creating a metro system that citizens can use with confidence every day."
Daegu Transportation Corporation plans to further strengthen field-oriented safety management and communication with employees and citizens. Through continuous inspections and improvements across metro operations, it aims to become a public transportation provider trusted by citizens.
