Loitering Around Wedding Venues: Man in His 60s with Fraud Record Posed as Guest to Take Return Gifts

[Financial News] People who posed as wedding guests and took meal tickets or return gifts without paying wedding gift money have been arrested by police. Most of them were in their 60s or 70s, and some had previously been punished for fraud.
Busan Nambu Police Station said on the 18th that it had arrested six people, including a 75-year-old identified as A, on fraud charges and referred the case to prosecutors. They are accused of posing as wedding guests at venues in Nam District and Busanjin District around March and July, taking meal tickets without paying wedding gift money, or exchanging the meal tickets they received for return gifts. The alleged gains totaled approximately 770,000 won.
Police identified and arrested A after receiving a report from a victim. Believing that others may have profited using similar methods, investigators analyzed CCTV footage from the two wedding venues and arrested five more people one by one.
According to police, most of the suspects were in their 60s or 70s and had prior records of punishment for theft or fraud. They were not homeless people without fixed residences. Instead, they visited the wedding venues looking presentable, even dressing in suits for the crimes.
A police official urged the public, "If you see someone behaving suspiciously, such as loitering around the wedding gift money collection desk or exchanging a meal ticket for cash after receiving it, check the matter immediately at the scene."
