[Financial News] Eight out of 10 major companies in Busan will take four days off during this year’s Chuseok holiday.
On the 18th, the Busan Employers’ Federation released the results of its 2026 survey on Chuseok holiday closures among 110 major companies in Busan.

This year’s Chuseok holiday runs for four consecutive days, including public holidays and the weekend. Accordingly, 79.2% of respondents said they would take “four days” off, the largest share. This was followed by “five days” at 9.4%, “three days or fewer” at 7.6%, and “six days or more” at 3.8%.
Chuseok bonuses, which draw as much attention as the length of the holiday, are scheduled to be paid by 62.7% of companies in Busan.
By industry, 60.0% of manufacturing companies and 72.7% of non-manufacturing companies said they planned to pay the bonuses.
By company size, 66.9% of large companies and 61.9% of small and medium-sized companies were found to be planning to pay Chuseok bonuses.
The most common payment method was “regular bonuses only” at 65.6%, followed by “separate bonuses at the employer’s discretion only” at 31.3% and “both regular and separate bonuses” at 3.1%.
The main reasons cited by workplaces that paid Chuseok bonuses last year but do not plan to do so this year were “a deterioration in the company’s ability to pay” at 56.0%, “other reasons” at 36.0%, and “the removal of the stated basis for payment due to revisions to collective agreements or work rules” at 8.0%.
Meanwhile, in the Busan Employers’ Federation’s survey, half of the responding companies said that business conditions during this year’s Chuseok holiday would be “similar to the previous year.” Another 39.3% said conditions had “worsened compared with the previous year,” while 10.7% said they had “improved compared with the previous year.”
