Incheon Transit Corporation to Extend Late-Night Urban Rail Service for Chuseok Return Travelers

【Financial News, Incheon = Han Gap-su, Reporter】 Incheon Transit Corporation will extend late-night urban rail services to help residents returning home late during the Chuseok holiday. Incheon Transit Corporation said on the 18th that it had established comprehensive safety measures for special transportation and would extend urban rail services on the 26th and 27th to support safe and convenient travel for residents during the holiday.
The corporation plans to deploy six temporary trains each night during this period, for a total of 12 services. On Incheon Subway Line 1, two services per day will run between Geomdan Lake Park Station and Songdo Moonlight Festival Park station, for a total of four. On Incheon Line 2, four services per day will operate between Geomdan Oryu Station and Unyeon Station, for a total of eight.
On Seoul Subway Line 7, additional temporary trains will be scheduled and operated under Seoul Metro's plan to extend late-night services during the Chuseok holiday.
Safety management will also be strengthened during the special transportation period. Incheon Transit Corporation will establish a special transportation situation room at its comprehensive control center from the 24th through the 27th, activating an emergency response system.
The situation room will maintain an emergency contact system with relevant agencies and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) in the event of unusual circumstances. If an accident occurs, it will direct a swift response and on-site measures.
Preliminary safety inspections of train operations and facilities will also be conducted. The corporation will inspect key station facilities, including tracks, structures, and platform equipment, as well as electrical, signaling, and telecommunications equipment. Through special safety guidance inspections, it will address potential hazards in advance, including factors that could lead to accidents caused by crowded platforms or trains.
During the holiday, teams responsible for inspecting and starting electric trains will remain on emergency standby to prepare for various situations that may arise during train operations.
