[Financial News] A shark appeared off the coast adjacent to Bukhang Waterfront Park in Dong-gu, Busan, at 8:57 a.m. on the 18th, prompting the Korea Coast Guard (KCG) to take safety measures.
According to the KCG, it received a report from a passerby saying, "A live shark has appeared in the park." The shark was brown in appearance and was estimated to measure between 3 and 3.5 meters in body length. The KCG dispatched a coastal rescue boat and patrol vessels to the scene.
The KCG has also sent safety advisories by text message to fishermen and water leisure operators.
A KCG official said, "The National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) recommended guiding the shark toward offshore waters." The official added, "Because the shark could become aggressive, citizens should avoid approaching the waterside of the park as a precaution against any potential danger."
