CHA Gangnam Medical Center to Expand Efforts to Attract Foreign Patients, Becoming a Hub for Gangnam Medical Tourism

[Financial News]   CHA Gangnam Medical Center will serve as a hub for Seoul's Gangnam-gu medical tourism ecosystem. The hospital is expected to expand its efforts to attract foreign patients by leveraging its strength in women's healthcare and CHA Medical Group's global network.
According to CHA Gangnam Medical Center on the 18th, the hospital was selected as the new chair institution of the incorporated Gangnam-gu Medical Tourism Association. Kim Young-tak, director of CHA International Hospital, was chosen as the association's new chair.
Founded in 2009, the association brings together medical institutions in Gangnam-gu as well as companies and organizations involved in medical tourism to attract foreign patients and promote related industries.
Gangnam is considered a key destination for medical tourism in South Korea. According to the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Data Lab, Gangnam-gu accounted for 43.8% of foreign visitors' medical spending in Seoul last year.
CHA Gangnam Medical Center provides healthcare services across women's lifecycles, including obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic cancer care, infertility treatment, and fertility preservation. The overseas medical network of CHA Medical Group also provides a foundation for expanding medical tourism.
A medical industry official noted, "Competition in medical tourism is expanding from individual hospitals' efforts to attract patients to competition among networks that connect medical care, accommodation, wellness, and other services. The role of hospitals with experience in overseas healthcare businesses and specialized medical services is also growing."
Meanwhile, the association plans to expand joint marketing among member companies, customized programs for foreign patients, and the development of global networks.
New chair Kim Young-tak emphasized, "We will combine Gangnam-gu's infrastructure with the expertise of member institutions to strengthen our global competitiveness and establish a safe and trusted medical tourism environment."
