[Financial News] Large-cap semiconductor stocks, including Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, were trading higher early on the 18th.
According to the Korea Exchange (KRX), Samsung Electronics was trading at KRW 259,500 as of 9:48 a.m., up 2.77% from the previous trading day.
At the same time, SK hynix was trading at KRW 1,823,000, up 4.47% from the previous trading day.
Despite U.S. monetary tightening, tech stocks rebounded overnight in U.S. markets, which is seen as driving gains in both Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.
All three major indexes rose in U.S. markets the previous day as the sharp increases in international oil prices and U.S. Treasury yields eased somewhat.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) led the gains, rising 3.14%. NVIDIA rose 2.54%, Micron Technology gained 5.50%, and SK hynix ADR advanced 4.64%.
In addition, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, forecast strong sales of the company's chips as the artificial intelligence (AI) market expands. This appears to have fueled investors' appetite for semiconductor stocks.
