North Gyeongsang Province Makes All-Out Effort to Minimize Gaps in Medical Care During Chuseok Holiday

[Financial News, Andong = Kim Jang-wook, Reporter] North Gyeongsang Province is making every effort to minimize gaps in medical care during the Chuseok holiday.
North Gyeongsang Province has designated the four-day period from Sept. 24 through Sept. 27 as a special response period for the Chuseok holiday and will operate an emergency medical care system to prevent gaps in emergency services.
According to the province, 36 emergency medical institutions across North Gyeongsang Province will provide care for emergency patients around the clock. To reduce gaps in outpatient care and prevent overcrowding in emergency rooms, 610 hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies that remain open will also be designated and operated.
Kim Ho-seop, director of the Welfare and Health Bureau, emphasized, "We will do our utmost to ensure that residents and holiday travelers can spend a safe and healthy Chuseok holiday through comprehensive emergency medical measures. We also ask residents to actively follow infectious disease prevention guidelines, such as washing their hands and ventilating indoor spaces regularly, to protect their families' health."
The province and public health centers in its 22 cities and counties will operate emergency medical care situation rooms. They will activate a system of daily regional reports and monitoring to respond promptly to any unusual developments and monitor the situation around the clock in preparation for disasters. Rapid response teams at public health centers and the emergency response system at disaster hub hospitals will also remain in place.
In particular, four 24-hour pediatric emergency rooms, one in each of the eastern, western, southern, and northern regions, will operate for pediatric care. Six Moonlight Children's Hospitals, which provide care at night and on holidays, will also remain open. In the event of a severe pediatric case, patients can receive prompt treatment at Kyungpook National University Children's Hospital, home to the Daegu–Gyeongbuk Specialized Pediatric Emergency Medical Center.
In addition, 24 infectious disease emergency response teams staffed by 249 personnel will operate and maintain a 24-hour monitoring and response system. If suspected cases arise, epidemiological investigations and disease-control measures will be carried out promptly to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the community.
