Hyundai Mobis Prevents Risks from the Design Stage, Expands Safety Management to Partner Companies

[Financial News] Hyundai Mobis is incorporating risk factors from the factory design stage and expanding safety management to partner companies and parts dealerships. The company is focused on reducing hazards in production, research, and logistics facilities in advance while raising safety standards throughout its supply chain. It is also providing hands-on training to improve on-site response capabilities and strengthening employee health management.
Hyundai Mobis announced on the 21st that it is identifying risk factors and vulnerabilities at each of its production plants, research centers, and logistics centers. The company is also using its own safety assessment system to review improvements and evaluate the level of safety management.
Facility safety management begins at the planning and design stage. Hyundai Mobis said it is reviewing potential hazards at plants, logistics centers, and research facilities and incorporating them into designs based on design safety standards that it was the first in the manufacturing industry to introduce. The initiative is intended to reduce risks before facilities begin operating.
Employee training focuses on improving responses to accidents that may occur at industrial sites. At its specialized safety, health, and environment (SH&E) training facility in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, the company provides safety training that uses virtual reality (VR) to simulate hazardous situations, including fires, falls, and entrapment accidents. More than 2,300 new employees and staff from related departments completed the training last year.
The company also provides training based on actual accident cases and operates safety campaigns and newsletters. At each workplace's Occupational Safety and Health Committee, labor and management jointly identify hazards and pursue improvement measures.
The scope of safety management is expanding to partner companies and the parts distribution network. Hyundai Mobis supports its partners in obtaining ISO 45001 certification, the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems, and jointly carries out health and safety initiatives with them.
Last year, Hyundai Mobis conducted free safety assessments for more than 1,200 parts dealerships and parts support centers nationwide in cooperation with KISA. The company inspected around 40 items, including fire prevention and facility safety, with a focus on strengthening safety management capabilities throughout the parts distribution network.
Hyundai Mobis is also strengthening employee health management. Its health management system allows employees to check their individual health status and supports voluntary health management. Employees can also receive professional assistance at the company's health management and psychological counseling centers.
The company is providing emergency-response training and managing related equipment as well. More than 1,000 employees completed cardiopulmonary resuscitation training last year. All workplaces operate a total of 160 automated external defibrillators and conduct regular inspections and monitoring.
Hyundai Mobis plans to further advance its occupational health and safety management systems at its workplaces and partner companies while promoting the establishment of a strong safety culture through training and on-site inspections.
