Meet Yoo Youngkuk and Martin Parr This Chuseok: Seoul Museum of Art to Open Seven Venues

[Financial News] Visitors can see works by eight modern and contemporary artists, including Yoo Youngkuk, Oh Yoon and Martin Parr, free of charge at seven Seoul Museum of Art venues during the Chuseok holiday. On Chuseok Day, the Seoul Museum of Art Seosomun Main Building and Buk-Seoul Museum of Art will remain open into the evening.
The Seoul Museum of Art said on the 18th that the Seoul Museum of Art Seosomun Main Building, Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, Seosoul Museum of Art, Nam-Seoul Museum of Art, Art Archives, Seoul Museum of Art, Photography Seoul Museum of Art (Photo SeMA), and House of Nam June Paik will remain open from the 24th to the 27th without a closure day.
The venues will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., except for Nam-Seoul Museum of Art, which closes at 6 p.m. On the 25th, Chuseok Day, the Seoul Museum of Art Seosomun Main Building and Buk-Seoul Museum of Art will remain open until 9 p.m. in conjunction with Seoul Culture Night.
The exhibition "Yoo Youngkuk: The Mountain Is Within Me" at the Seoul Museum of Art Seosomun Main Building is a retrospective marking the 110th anniversary of the artist's birth. It presents more than 170 works and archival items, including 115 oil paintings, and its cumulative attendance surpassed 300,000 on the 3rd.
The Art Archives, Seoul Museum of Art exhibition "Oh Yoon" examines the artist's creative process through original print plates, studies and notebooks on the 40th anniversary of his death. "Martin Parr: We Are Martin Parr" at Photo SeMA looks back on the artist's more than 50-year career through about 500 photographs and 90 photobooks.
Buk-Seoul Museum of Art is hosting "Oh Inhwan vs. Jang Seoyoung: Human Error," which explores identity and technological civilization. Seosoul Museum of Art is presenting more than 120 works, including games, videos and photographs, in "Kim Heecheon: Moles."
Nam-Seoul Museum of Art is presenting more than 100 works and materials, from Jo Sookjin's early plywood pieces to her new works from Gureopdo, in "Jo Sookjin: A Passing Place." The House of Nam June Paik features the permanent exhibition "Megatron Rhapsody."
By expanding the range of works on view from painting and printmaking to photography, games and video, visitors can explore how each artist captures and expresses reality differently. The exhibition layouts, which focus on one or two artists at each venue, also make it easy to plan a route centered on a preferred medium or artist.
All exhibitions offer free admission at all times, and audio commentary on the artworks is available through the museum's website and exhibition guide app.
