The 29th BICOF will be held from the 18th through the 20th around the Korea Manhwa Museum in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency said on the 18th. This year's theme is "Comics and Webtoons Made Easy."
The opening ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. that day in the museum's screening room. Awards for the Bucheon Comics Award and the National Student Comics Contest will be presented, while J Robin, creator of the webtoon "The Legend of Kitchen Soldier," will serve as a promotional ambassador.
The exhibition "Murim" spotlights the martial arts genre, featuring works that won last year's Bucheon Comics Award. Visitors can also see the winners of this year's Bucheon Comics Award and National Student Comics Contest.
On the 19th, Baek Won-dal, creator of "The Dream of an Old Man," and actors Yoon Hee-seok and Shin Eun-jung will discuss webtoons and theater. The creators of this year's grand-prize winner of the Bucheon Comics Award, "The Greatest Estate Developer"—BK_Moon, Lee Hyun-min and Kim Hyun-soo—will also share stories about the work.
The conversation between webtoon creators and actors will offer audiences a chance to encounter both the perspective of drawing a work and that of performing it.
On the 20th, French graphic artist Uibin Landreau and Keum Suk Gendry-Kim will hold a discussion to mark the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France. The 30th-anniversary special exhibition of the International Cartoonists Conference, titled "Connection," will feature 16 works from eight regions.

The festival grounds will also offer one-day classes on cosplay makeup and prop-making. Caricature sessions will be free, while visitors can also try on cosplay costumes and enjoy an outdoor comics café.
Industry exchanges are also part of the event. The Gyeonggi International Webtoon Fair moved from its previous venue at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Ilsan to the Webtoon Complex Center-Bucheon, where it is being held from the 17th through the 18th. Domestic and international industry representatives are exploring business opportunities using webtoon intellectual property (IP).
Baek Jong-hoon, president of the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency, said, "I hope everyone who visits the festival discovers new charms of comics and webtoons and takes home precious memories."
