According to MCST on the 18th, Choi will visit Japan as the government's representative from the 18th through the 19th. He will attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Summer Asian Games on the 19th, as well as a banquet hosted by the Games' organizing committee.
Before that, on the 18th, he will discuss ways to expand sports exchanges with Junichi Kawai, head of the Japan Sports Agency. He will also meet international sports figures, including International Olympic Committee (IOC) members, at the opening ceremony for Korea House.
South Korea will send a delegation of 1,052 people across 41 sports. The Games will run from September 19 to October 4. Japan is hosting the Summer Asian Games for the third time, following Tokyo in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994.
Korea House, operated by MCST and the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), will welcome visitors at Lives Nagoya near the athletes' village at Nagoya Port from September 18 through October 3. This will be the second time Korea House has operated at the Asian Games, following the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.
The venue will feature an exhibition of national team uniforms, as well as archery, basketball and golf experiences. Group cheering events will also be held for major sports, including baseball and fencing. A dedicated lounge will be available for athletes, coaches and their families.
The Cultural Foundation of National Museum of Korea will display and sell more than 70 cultural products under the Myutjeu brand, along with five limited-edition products, including Taegeuk keychains. The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) will operate a street-food booth and cooking classes.
The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) will host a talk show featuring KARA's Kang Ji-young and promote regional tourism in Cheongju, Gongju and Buyeo County. Taekwondo demonstrations and promotions for the ChungCheong 2027 FISU World University Games will also be held.
The venue will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Visitors can make advance reservations through the website or register on-site.
Choi said, "I will cheer wholeheartedly so that the sweat and efforts of our athletes, who have trained diligently for a long time, bear fruit on the field." He added, "I hope Korea House at the Asian Games will further elevate the standing of Korean sports and become a strong support hub for the delegation."
