Incheon’s Chamareum Kindergarten and Daegu’s Yulgeum Elementary School Win Grand Prizes at the National 119 Fire Safety Children’s Song Contest

[Financial News] Incheon’s Chamareum Kindergarten and Daegu’s Yulgeum Elementary School won the grand prizes in the kindergarten and elementary divisions, respectively, at the 27th National 119 Fire Safety Children’s Song Contest.
The NFA said on the 18th that a total of 36 teams—19 kindergarten teams and 17 elementary school teams selected nationwide—participated in the Fire Safety Children’s Song Contest, held on the 16th and 17th at the Arts Center in Jeonnam-Gwangju Special Metropolitan City.
Chamareum Kindergarten from Incheon won the grand prize in the kindergarten division, while Yulgeum Elementary School from Daegu took the top honor in the elementary division. Each team received a Minister of Education Award and 2 million won in prize money.
The two kindergarten teams and two elementary school teams that received the excellence awards each received a Minister of the Interior and Safety Award and 1.5 million won. Certificates and prize money were also presented to six teams receiving merit awards, 12 teams receiving gold awards and 12 teams receiving silver awards.
This year, awards for the teachers who guided the children’s preparations and safety education were expanded. The number of guidance teacher award recipients doubled from 18 last year to 36 this year.
The Fire Safety Children’s Song Contest is hosted by the NFA and organized by the Korea Fire Safety Institute. It is designed to help children learn fire prevention and everyday safety rules through songs and choreography.
Choi Yong-cheol, commissioner of the NFA, said, "We will continue to expand child-friendly safety education content and participatory cultural events so that the safety promises children learned through today’s songs can lead to action at home and at school."
