Konkuk University Draws 1,000 Young People for 'Hands-On Internship Preparation'

[Financial News] As practical experience becomes increasingly important in the corporate recruitment market, universities are stepping up hands-on training to help young people pursue internships and work-based training.
Konkuk University’s University Job Plus Project Team announced on the 17th that it had successfully completed the 2026 Summer Junior Elite Program, which was operated for current students, graduates and young people from the local community. More than 1,600 young people applied for the program as many sought to gain work experience before beginning their job searches, and 1,006 ultimately completed the course. Participation increased from last year, while overall satisfaction with the training reached 4.73 out of 5.
The course focused on practical exercises designed to quickly build the job skills demanded by the employment market. Participants learned about the qualities companies seek in candidates and how to analyze jobs, as well as how to write personal statements using artificial intelligence, prepare for real-world interviews and communicate in the workplace. Customized training was also provided for students in the humanities and social sciences and those in engineering and the natural sciences, supporting career preparation tailored to their majors.
The most popular component among students was the in-person One-Day Job Application Workshop. Rather than simply delivering information, the workshop had participants write job application forms themselves and receive one-on-one feedback from experts, helping them develop a feel for real-world applications.
Reflecting participants’ feedback, Konkuk University’s University Job Plus Project Team plans to offer major special lectures as video courses and improve the guide provided before the workshops on preparing application forms, making the program more convenient.
