95th Conference of the Korean Society of Transportation Opens in Gangneung... Ajou University Wins Top Award

[Financial News Gangneung = Jung Kyung] The academic conference of the Korean Society of Transportation, the nation's largest academic event in the transportation sector, was held in Gangneung under the theme of autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI).
The Korean Society of Transportation announced that it would hold its 95th academic conference at the Gangneung Convention Center from the 17th through the 19th under the theme "Transportation Mobility in the Era of AX and Physical AI." The conference was organized in cooperation with the Gangneung ITS World Congress Organizing Committee in connection with the ITS World Congress, which will be held at the same venue from the 19th to the 23rd of next month.
The conference will feature intensive presentations and discussions on autonomous driving technologies designed to operate without accidents, as well as new transportation services emerging from autonomous driving, the resulting changes in daily life, and the transportation industry ecosystem related to autonomous driving.
More than 800 people will attend the conference and present 172 papers. A total of 49 special sessions will be held, including planning sessions on commercial services and mobility solutions aimed at making autonomous driving part of everyday life. Nineteen transportation-related organizations will present and discuss a range of research achievements. Ajou University received the top award at this year's conference.
The opening ceremony will be attended by Gangneung Mayor Kim Jung-nam; Kim Yong-seok, chairman of the Metropolitan Area Transport Commission; Kim Tae-seung, president of Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL); Yoo Jung-hoon, president of Korea Expressway Corporation; Jung Jin-hyeok, chairman of Korea National Railway; and Yong-Sik Jung, chairman of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, among others.
The Korean Society of Transportation said it expects the conference to serve as a forum for broad discussions on changes in transportation and mobility and the industry's outlook in the era of autonomous driving.
Kim Yong-seok emphasized, "As transportation demand rapidly increases, particularly in metropolitan areas, and people's daily living zones expand, the importance of transportation networks that cross regional boundaries is growing."
