ICC JEJU Directly Discovered and Bid for It... ICAE 2026 to Be Held in Jeju

[Financial News Jeju = Reporter Jeong Yong-bok] An international academic conference dealing with technologies for predicting and optimizing energy systems using artificial intelligence (AI), as well as electricity and cooling demand resulting from the proliferation of AI and data centers, will be held in Jeju during the Chuseok holiday. Approximately 800 foreign researchers, industry experts, and policymakers from around 20 countries are expected to visit Jeju.
According to International Convention Center Jeju (ICC JEJU) on the 17th, the 18th International Congress of Applied Energy (ICAE 2026) will be held at International Convention Center Jeju for five days from the 22nd to the 26th.
ICAE is an international academic conference in the field of applied energy that began in 2009. The 17th conference was held in Bangkok, Thailand last year, and the 18th conference is being held in Jeju this year.
This event is an international conference that International Convention Center Jeju secured by directly proposing it to the international headquarters. It is noteworthy in terms of attracting international conferences and the Jeju MICE industry, as a large number of foreign participants will be staying in Jeju during the period that includes the Chuseok holiday.
The theme of the conference is 'Building an AI-Energy Nexus for a Sustainable Future.' A nexus refers to a relationship in which two entities are closely connected and influence each other. The conference focuses on discussing how AI technology and energy systems influence one another and how to efficiently combine the two fields.

One axis of the discussion is 'AI for Energy.' Technologies that utilize AI to predict energy demand and supply, and to optimize, control, or plan system operations, are being addressed as major agenda items.
'Energy for AI,' moving in the opposite direction, is also a key agenda. It seeks energy systems to address the increasing power consumption and server cooling demands driven by the proliferation of generative AI and data centers. In essence, it addresses in one place the structure in which AI serves as a tool to solve energy problems while simultaneously creating new energy demands.
Overseas energy and engineering institutions, such as Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Applied Energy Innovation Institute (AEii), are also participating as supporting organizations. Researchers in master's and doctoral programs, along with industry experts and policymakers, are expected to share research findings and address current policy and industrial issues.
