[Financial News] As investment in U.S. communications infrastructure gathers pace, Samsung Active Asset Management's KoAct Optical Communications & Satellite Network Active posted the highest weekly return among domestic equity exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
According to Samsung Active Asset Management on the 17th, KoAct Optical Communications & Satellite Network Active recorded a one-week return of 3.03%. This was the highest performance among domestic equity ETFs, excluding leveraged and inverse products.
KoAct Optical Communications & Satellite Network Active was listed on July 14, and its return since listing stood at 17.21%. The ETF invests in network-related stocks, including optical communications and low-Earth-orbit satellites, which are emerging as new bottlenecks as demand for expanded AI data centers and AI agents drives greater attention to improvements in network performance.
The rise in global optical communications stocks in recent weeks has spread to Korean optical communications companies, contributing to the ETF's stronger returns. With U.S. communications infrastructure investment entering full swing, efforts to phase out Chinese-made equipment are benefiting Korean companies and providing additional momentum for their share prices.
The ETF's major holdings include RF Materials (12.17%), Wooriro (7.44%), Hanwha Aerospace (6.43%), TAIHAN Fiberoptics (5.77%), and FIBERPRO (5.46%).
Kim Hyo-sik, head of Investment Management Team 2 at Samsung Active Asset Management, said, "The optical communications infrastructure supercycle, led by the United States, has entered the early stages of growth. Trickle-down effects are now emerging in earnest for Korean optical communications and network companies, with increases in orders and improvements in earnings beginning to stand out."
However, he added, "As earnings improvements at Korean optical communications companies are taking hold in earnest this year, investors should remain mindful of the stock-price volatility commonly seen in the early stages of a turnaround."
