According to the NHIS on the 17th, the project focused not merely on replacing outdated queue calling equipment, but on improving the service environment so that anyone visiting an NHIS branch can use public administrative services conveniently.
Before beginning the large-scale replacement nationwide, the NHIS piloted the barrier-free queue calling system at several branches. It used the pilot program to identify and address potential problems and areas for improvement in actual service settings.
In particular, the NHIS examined inconveniences and needed improvements from the perspective of people with disabilities and older adults, then incorporated the findings into the system. Installation of the improved system at all branches nationwide is scheduled to be completed within the year.
Kang Cheong-hee, president of the NHIS, said, "Innovation starts not with grand changes, but with eliminating, one by one, the small inconveniences people experience in their daily lives. Ensuring that everyone, including people with disabilities and older adults, can use our services without inconvenience from the moment they visit the NHIS is the foundation of a people-centered service."
He added, "By making the humane life and dignity of the public our top priorities, we will continue to identify and address inconveniences at service sites and make 'Reboot Health Insurance,' something people can experience firsthand, a reality."
